'Thank you.'

They're quite possibly the nicest two words in the language. Because, like praise, gratitude is its own virtue. It just works. You know when you get a note or even an email saying 'thank you'? How does it make you feel? We often think they've sent it to the wrong person. (And usually they have.) But it's nice nonetheless. And there's another nice word - 'nonetheless'.

    I find I'm quite good with manners; even though this may seem trivial it really makes me feel better knowing that I'm polite. For example, I always say thank you to the bus driver when I reach my stop, thank you to my tutors for handing things out, thank you to my grandparents when they make me dinner or a cup of tea, thank you to my friends when they help me with something.     today i said thank you and smiled at least a 100 times as i went to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer care and everytime we was given a donation i smiled and said thankyou!

    Yesterday I went to a store and after finishing my transaction I said thank you to her.
    On another occassion, I went to eat near my flat. I always say thank you to the servant after finishing my food.

    here in japan, often saying the words 'arigato gozaimashita' are common courtesy, which reminds you to be thankful for simple things, and for life, every single experience.     So last year, our idillic riverside cottage was going to be sold from under our feet. My step-dad, Trevor is the Lockeeper at Hanham Lock, and so that's where I grew up. We were at the centre of a tight-knit community who share everything. We grew veg, played music, had bonfires, went boating, built rope swings and made maore friends then I can count.
    Faced with homelessness, my geniuos step-dad wrote the 'Thank You Song'. It is to remind us all how much we have to be thankful for. The idea was that people would download it to help save the house...
    We all helped make the video, the small blonde girl is my sister, the man and woman who make their bodies into shapes are my parents <3
    ... and I'm in there somewhere as well!

    The song didn't take off, but I still love it, brings a tear to my eye!

    We kept being positive, and after a year of worry and petitioing, the house is no-longer being sold :-)THANK YOU! (-:

    Sometimes saying thank you to no-one in particular can be just as good :-)

    Today, i came back from Eskdale after being on a W.A.W.W.D trainging trip =], when we arrived in Blackburn i rang my mum and asked her if she could pick me up as i have a broken leg and travelling places is fairly tough, i wasn't able to get the lift as my brother was borrowing my mum's car to go to work in. So i was pretty screwed, but Hannah's mum offered to give me a lift seen as they live on the way to my house.     We are very quick to complain about poor customer service but I wonder how often we say thanks to people for doing a good job.
    The driver who delivered my stuff today was courteous, helpful and efficient.
    Afterwards I thought that he deserved a little recognition, so I emailed his company to say thanks to him, hope they pass the message on. In fact, hope they make him employee of the week.

    i say thank you to most people who cross my path...the bus driver when he drops me off, the person who makes coffee for me, people who stand back and let me go first out of the lift or door...its not hard, it costs me nothing and it makes someone else feel good! try it and see :)
